Speaking yesterday at a meeting with civil society organisations at the presidency, the president appealed for ongoing cooperation from everyone and promised complete openness in the battle.
“I’m determined. We need your support. We need your criticism, your advocacy, and your pressure. Continue to put our feet to the fire, and let’s win this fight together,” he said.
As they continued their campaign, he urged CSOs and activists to keep up the pressure on him and the government.
Additionally, Mr Mahama reaffirmed his pledge to save our forests and waterways for coming generations.
“I have nothing to hide,” the president reassured all parties involved. “I don’t gain anything from galamsey. I am not personally involved in illegal mining, and I have no interest in it, so you can be assured that we are all on the same side.”
