On May 30, 2023, MTN Ghana hosted its fifth Annual General Meeting (AGM).

At the AGM, Board Chairman Ishmael Yamson reported that the telecom had a solid year in 2022, with total revenue growing by 28.4% year over year because to management’s effective implementation of the commercial plan, which led to increases in voice, internet, and Mobile Money (MoMo) revenues.

“MTN is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for Ghanaians via effective and long-lasting socioeconomic initiatives. The organization allotted 28.3 million to carry out health, education, and economic empowerment programs in 2022 through the MTN Ghana Foundation, in addition to the investment in MTN’s network and IT systems, said Dr. Yamson.

A dividend on ordinary shares in the amount of 12.4 pesewas was agreed at the AGM and will be distributed to all shareholders on June 22, 2023.

Following the interim dividend of 4.0 pesewas per share paid on September 22, 2022, this takes the total dividend for the 2022 fiscal year to 16.4 pesewas per share.

This amounts to a 42.6% year-over-year (YoY) increase in dividend per share paid in 2022 over 2021 and 70.6% of profit after taxes.

Selorm Adadevoh, the CEO of MTN, stated at the AGM that “we are confident in the medium- to long-term prospects of Ghana’s economy and as such, MTN commits to continue to invest efficiently in infrastructure and to improve the capacity and quality of connectivity and other related services for our customers.”

MTN will continue to take the lead in implementing cutting-edge ideas that address pressing issues for Ghanaians, according to Mr. Adadevoh. In order to improve customer choice, customer experience, and to uphold MTN’s commitment to excellence to its cherished customers, MTN will intensify existing work to strengthen its platforms, in particular MyMTN and Ayoba Apps as well as MoMo.
