Media allegations that Kevin Okyere, the CEO of Springfield Energy, was arrested or imprisoned in Dubai have been denied by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
EOCO urged the public to ignore the publication by online news site Novareport, calling it “false” and “misleading” in a statement released on Sunday, November 2, 2025.
The Office said that it is now investigating Springfield Energy in two different ways, one on an ongoing disagreement between Springfield and the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST) and the other based on a petition against the company.
EOCO explained that any suggestion that its inaction resulted in Mr. Okyere’s purported imprisonment is baseless because, as a matter of protocol, investigations must come before arrests.
“We wish to emphasize that the case involving BOST and Springfield is of priority to EOCO due to its immediate impact on BOST’s finances and the local economy,” the statement read.
The Office restated its commitment to thoroughly investigating and prosecuting economic and organised crime in Ghana and expressed concern that Novareport did not seek clarification prior to publishing the story.
“EOCO assures the public that it is committed to investigating and prosecuting economic and organized crimes in Ghana, and we will continue to work diligently to achieve our mandate,” the statement said.
Ghanaians were asked by the Office to ignore the fraudulent release and maintain their faith that the investigations are still ongoing.
