Mr. Opanyin Abraham Kwaku Adusei, an 82-year-old man, has been named the 2025 Overall Best National Farmer.

Osman Kadiri finished first, and Charles Gyato, a 63-year-old from the Oti Region, finished second.

They were rewarded with money for their diligence.

At the 41st National Farmers Day Awards Ceremony in Ho, the Volta Regional Capital, President John Mahama gave them the honors.

President John Dramani Mahama emphasized in his speech the advantages of farming for all Ghanaians.

The President advised people, particularly those with official jobs, to do so as a supplemental source of income.

At the 41st National Farmers’ Day Celebration in Ho on Friday, December 5, the President made the request while speaking to farmers and other interested parties.

He stated that “Agriculture isn’t just for the villagers.”

“You can work and still be a farmer,” he continued. “Teachers and civil servants can go to work and have farms, and the money from the farm can supplement their incomes.”

Many professions, including teachers, public officers, and employees in the business sector, can effectively balance their normal employment with farming, according to the President.

In addition to improving household finances, he emphasized that adopting agriculture as a side business would increase national food security and lessen Ghana’s reliance on food imports.

In order to enable part-time farmers to remain productive without necessarily being physically present on their farms every day, President Mahama also promoted the adoption of contemporary farming technologies, irrigation, and enhanced seedlings.

The President reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to fostering an environment that increases farming’s appeal and profitability for people of all backgrounds.

In the meantime, corporate Ghana has been urged by Minister of Food and Agriculture Eric Opoku to collaborate with the Ministry in order to assist farmers.

He stated that there is a renewed national commitment to supporting agriculture while speaking at the 41st Farmers’ Day celebration in Ho, Volta Region, on Friday, December 5.

He said, “I want to urge Cooperate Ghana to partner with the Minister.”

The Minister had already emphasized how crucial accurate and timely meteorological information is to agriculture.

He argues that timely and accurate meteorological information is now just as important to agricultural productivity as land and labor.

He recently stated at the Government Accountability Series Session, “Climate variability and unpredictability are among the greatest risks our farmers face – and responding to these requires systems that generate, analyze, and disseminate data in real time.”

He emphasized how the Ministry has significantly improved Ghana’s agro-meteorological environment.

Eric Opoku, the Minister of Food and Agriculture, had earlier urged corporate Ghana to collaborate with the Ministry in order to assist farmers.
