Mr. Ibrahim Mahama, a businessman, has refuted rumours that he was involved in a takeover attempt for the Volta Aluminium Company (VALCO).

His response comes after some demonstrators in today’s VALCO Labour Union demonstration claimed that Mr. Mahama was considering purchasing the state-owned aluminium company.

The industrialist declared he had “no such interest” and has not made an offer to buy VALCO in a statement released by his Special Aide, Rafik Mahama.

According to the statement, “The allegation is the latest in several vile attempts to impute the integrity of Mr. Ibrahim Mahama and subject him to needless public engagements.”

The statement went on to say that Mr. Mahama’s business record is self-evident, characterising his enterprises as “some of the best-run operations across the African continent.”

It said that all of Mr. Mahama’s economic ventures were “legally commenced or acquired” and comply with the law, which it claimed explains why his companies have survived seven election cycles.

The statement went on, “Mr. Mahama remains committed to contributing his quota to Ghana’s development by investing in business opportunities in Ghana and beyond.”

Additionally, the statement revealed that Mr. Mahama has directed his solicitors to pursue the appropriate legal action regarding the publishing and accusations.
