One year of John Mahama.
I imported a Honda CRV in July.
At the time I planned to buy the car, I spoke with the dealership guy in February who sent me a bill of around 310,000 as what I should prepare for based on the price the car was being sold in dollars.
When I was finally ready to pay in July, the dollar rate and import duty had come down so much that I only had to pay around 240,000 Cedis for the same car.
This is just one example.
I can mention several others. My company is now out of the VAT bracket because of the new VAT regime and this leaves me with money I can reinvest in business.
I think the last time we saw such turnaround in the first year of any government maybe the Kufuor government of 2001.
Apart from my disappointment with ORAL and a few gaffes from some persons he’s appointed into government, I’d say this is the best first year of any government I have seen in my adult life in Ghana.
May he do even better in the three years he has for our nation, Ghana.
