The Ministry of the Interior, in partnership with the President’s Diaspora Affairs Office, has temporarily banned Ghanaian citizenship applications for historical diasporans.

In a statement released on Sunday, February 1, the institutions stated that the suspension is part of a collaborative effort to streamline and improve the application process, making it more efficient, accessible, and user-friendly.

According to them, the halt will enable for required improvements to ensure a smoother and more seamless experience when applications restart.

The President’s Diaspora Affairs Office and the Ministry of the Interior reassured members of the global African family that they would continue to welcome them home.

The announcement further states that in due course, fresh rules and revised timelines would be disseminated through proper channels.
