President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated the government’s dedication to using innovation and technology to enhance Ghana’s agriculture industry.
The President opened the first Ghana AgroTech Fair 2026 on Tuesday, March 17, at Independence Square in Accra. He stated that agriculture is about jobs, exports, technology, and innovations, among other things. He urged all parties involved to collaborate in order to scale up agricultural technology locally so that Ghana can develop its potential for strategic national growth while bolstering her industrial base, which includes being a major producer and exporter.
President Mahama engaged with young inventors, farmers, agribusiness executives, and investors whose ground-breaking concepts are reshaping Ghana’s agricultural and agribusiness industries while visiting exhibit stands at the fair.

During his speech, the President declared that the first phase of one of his government’s hallmark projects, the Farmer Service Center in Afram Plains, will begin construction on Friday. Fifty more are anticipated to be completed nationwide.
President Mahama also praised the Ghana Eximbank, the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, and its partners for the excellent planning of the first Ghana Agro Tech Fair, which serves as a crucial national platform for showcasing and revolutionising the agricultural sector.

Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister for Trade, agriculture, and Industry, emphasised the significance of agriculture as a major force behind industrial transformation in a statement on developing agribusiness via innovation and value addition.
She pointed out that the AgroTech Fair serves as a strategic platform to link innovation with markets, investment, and governmental assistance in addition to being an exposition.
The Minister emphasised that the government is dedicated to making Ghana the most alluring and compelling Agribusiness Hub in Ghana and declared that the National Agribusiness Policy will shortly receive cabinet approval.
The government’s dedication to fostering a climate that allows agribusinesses to prosper through value addition, processing, and expanded access to both domestic and foreign markets was once again emphasised by Hon. Elizabeth Minister Ofosu Adjare.
She also urged development partners and the business sector to seize the chances presented by Ghana’s expanding agritech industry.

The CEO of Ghana Eximbank, Honourable Sylvester Mensah, insisted that among other things, agricultural technology helps make agriculture appealing to young people. He also mentioned that the National Agrotech Fair will help agribusiness expansion and create doors for new businesses.
He appealed for greater cooperation and engagement to boost the agricultural value chain and highlighted that the fair will act as a catalyst for change.
