The Ministry of Health has increased efforts to improve leadership, accountability, and training quality across Health Training Institutions (HTIs) by hosting a targeted corporate governance and capacity-building workshop.
The program, which has as its topic “Strengthening Leadership and Institutional Excellence in Public Health Training Institutions,” is a component of continuing reforms meant to create a health workforce that is competent, dispersed, and prepared for the future.
Speaking to the attendees, Prof. Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, Deputy Minister for Health, underlined the critical role that HTIs would play in determining Ghana’s healthcare future.
She emphasised the necessity of going beyond statistics and concentrating on producing experts with particular knowledge to handle ever complicated medical issues.
In order to address changing healthcare demands and modernise health education, she also advocated for the integration of technology, innovation, and international alliances.

Regarding financial stewardship, she emphasised accountability and openness in the administration of public resources and called for strict adherence to the Public Financial Management Act.
Mr. Fred Acheampong, the director of human resources, emphasised the significance of sound corporate governance in creating a robust healthcare system.
He pointed out that good communication and data-driven reporting systems, together with accountability, regulatory compliance, and strategic oversight, are all necessary for effective leadership.
The Ministry is still dedicated to advancing changes that will raise training standards and improve healthcare delivery across the country, as well as bolstering institutional leadership.
