The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has retained Hon. Musah Ziyad as its Presiding Member (PM) following a new election held one year after he took office to fill the unfulfilled term of his predecessor, Hon. Alfred Asiedu Adjei, who resigned.
With all 30 votes cast, or 100% of the legitimate ballots, Hon. Ziyad, the Assembly Member for the Amamomo Electoral Area, obtained a unanimous support.
After being deemed properly elected by Victoria Yakuba, the Deputy Greater Accra Regional Officer of the Electoral Commission, he was subsequently sworn in by Circuit Court Judge His Honour Jojo Amoah Hagan.
Hon. Ziyad thanked Assembly Members for their renewed faith in him in his remarks after the swearing-in, characterising the unanimous vote as a powerful support of his leadership.
He stressed the value of cooperation and unity in furthering the Assembly’s work, pointing out that members could only make steady progress by cooperating to realise a common goal.

He said that although many members had personal aspirations and worries, the Assembly’s growth objective required sincerity and a shared commitment.
He urged members to stay committed and focused, pointing out that if all stakeholders did their share, the Assembly could accomplish important goals.
Hon. Ziyad also thanked party executives, the Metro Coordinating Director, and other stakeholders for their assistance, emphasising how their combined efforts had helped the Assembly advance during the previous year.
Hon. Ziyad expressed optimism that even more accomplishments would be made in the upcoming term, pointing out that upcoming engagements will provide a chance to evaluate the results of their efforts.
Presiding Members from nearby assemblies, such as Korle Klottey, Ablekuma Central, and Ablekuma North, as well as party members and other interested parties, attended the ceremony.
The Presiding Member of the AMA is essential to the efficient operation of the city’s government structure because they are in charge of overseeing Assembly meetings and making sure that its business is conducted in an orderly manner.
