Professor Jerome Siau Djangmah, a prominent player in Ghana’s intellectual and educational scene, died at the age of 88.

The eminent scholar and public servant died quietly on Saturday, May 23, 2026, according to the family’s notice.
Over the course of his career, Prof. Djangmah worked diligently for decades at several prestigious universities in Ghana and West Africa.
Having held a number of prominent leadership positions, he left a legacy of honesty and excellence, including:
Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES).
Chairman of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
Chairman of the Governing Council at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW).
Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC).
Head of the Department of Zoology at both the University of Ghana (UG) and the University of Cape Coast (UCC).
