Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the former vice president and the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2024 presidential candidate, has stated that he is confident he will be Ghana’s next president after the general elections in 2028.

Dr. Bawumia expressed his strong belief that he will be sworn in as President of the Republic of Ghana on January 7, 2029, while speaking to party supporters at an event.

He proclaimed, to the applause of party members, “No matter what, I will be sworn in as President of Ghana on January 7, 2029, Insha Allah.”

The Arabic phrase “Insha Allah” means “God willing.”

In preparation for the upcoming election, Dr. Bawumia underlined that the NPP is concentrated on expanding and fortifying its base of support.

As the 2028 election preparations get underway, he asked party members to stay unified and dedicated to the party’s vision.

He says that cooperation, diligence, and the trust of Ghanaians will be necessary for the party to regain its position of authority.

He expressed hope that the NPP might win the upcoming general election and retake power with perseverance, commitment, and a fresh sense of purpose.

The former vice president’s comments coincide with political parties nationwide reorganising and preparing for the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections, which are anticipated to influence Ghana’s political climate going forward.
