A total of GH₵76.5 million has been made available to help Black Stars compete in the FIFA World Cup in 2026.

The Ministry of Finance authorised the two-part payment to Ghana’s senior national football team in order to facilitate the squad’s participation in the competition, which is co-hosted by the US, Canada, and Mexico.

The first tranche of GH₵58.9 million, or US$5 million in cedi, has been disbursed as an advance payment to cover the team’s expenses and preparations for the tournament’s group stage.

The players’ and technical team’s outstanding qualification incentives are settled in the second tranche, which totals GH₵17.5 million, or US$1.49 million in cedi.

The bonus payout is a component of a performance-based agreement that was agreed with the squad during the qualifying series. The players received half of their bonus during the qualifiers, with the remaining half being dependant upon the team’s World Cup qualification.

The Black Stars finished the season with 25 points from 10 games and won Group I of the African qualifiers, securing their spot in the world championship.

They have been placed in Group L with Panama, Croatia, and England.

Ghanaians were urged to keep supporting the Black Stars as they strive for victory in the tournament in a press release announcing the funds’ release, which stated that it was an indication of the organization’s dedication to giving the squad the tools necessary to compete at the top level.
