Three individuals have been detained by the Ashanti South Regional Police Command for allegedly interfering with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Executive Election in Bidieso, Obuasi.

On July 12, 2026, Haruna Iddrisu, also known as Dole, Osei Boateng, also known as Nana Osei, and Charles Opoku, also known as Blackman, invaded the voting place with offensive weapons, according to the police.

The men allegedly disrupted the election process by scattering ballot boxes and threatening voters and election officials, according to the police.

The three suspects were taken into custody after a reinforcement squad was sent to the location right away. Officers recovered one cutlass and one axe during the operation.

Following that, the accused were charged with conspiracy to commit crime, including rioting with weapons, and were arraigned before the Bekwai Circuit Court.

They each received GH¢50,000 in bail with two valid sureties after entering a not guilty plea to the allegations.

The case was postponed by the court until August 10, 2026, during which time authorities will continue their investigations and step up their efforts to capture any other suspects.
