The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two brothers in connection with the alleged murder of a 54-year-old man and the shooting injury of his wife at Beach Drive Estate, Tuba, near Weija, in the Greater Accra Region.
The suspects have been identified as Adams Adder Almeida and his brother, Bala Bilyon. Their arrest followed investigations into the shooting incident that occurred on August 6, 2026.
The police said the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) assisted the Accra Regional Police Command in apprehending the suspects.
Tuba Shooting Incident
According to the police, the Weija Police Station received information on August 6 that a man and his wife had been shot at Beach Drive Estate, Tuba, and needed urgent assistance.
A police team was dispatched to the location, where they found Mohammed Rahman, 54, and his wife, Christiana Fosu, 53, suffering from gunshot wounds outside their four-bedroom apartment.
The victims were immediately transported to Finney Hospital in Weija for medical attention. Mohammed Rahman was, however, pronounced dead upon arrival.
His wife, Christiana Fosu, was subsequently referred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, where she remains on admission and is reportedly responding to treatment.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary pending an autopsy as part of the ongoing murder investigation.
Suspect Admits to Shooting
During police interrogation, Adams Adder Almeida allegedly admitted to shooting Mohammed Rahman and his wife on August 6.
The suspect reportedly told investigators that he was motivated by his belief that the deceased had repeatedly referred to him as “lazy” and “useless”. He allegedly claimed that the comments had negatively affected him mentally.
Police investigations subsequently led Adams Adder Almeida to his brother’s room at Beach Drive Estate, Tuba, where investigators recovered a pistol suspected to have been used in the shooting.
The firearm was allegedly concealed beneath the wall drop of Bala Bilyon, who is said to work with the deceased.
Investigators also established that Adams Adder Almeida and Bala Bilyon live together in the same room at Tuba.
Police Search for Additional Suspect
Adams Adder Almeida further told investigators that the pistol had allegedly been given to him by a friend identified as Gideon.
The suspect subsequently led the police investigation team to Gideon’s residence at Tuba, but he was not found at home.
The Ghana Police Service said efforts are ongoing to locate Gideon to assist with investigations into the Tuba shooting and murder case.
Meanwhile, Bala Bilyon has also been arrested and is assisting the police with further interrogation as investigations continue.
The police are expected to conduct additional investigations to establish the full circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting and determine the roles of all persons connected to the case.
