The Ministry of Food and Agriculture, in partnership with Mehak Company Limited and Covenant Farms, has announced special international sponsorship packages for winners of the Overall National Best Farmer 2026 and National Best Poultry Farmer 2026 awards.
The packages will form part of activities for the 42nd National Farmers’ Day Celebration, which will recognise outstanding farmers for their contribution to Ghana’s agricultural development, food security and agribusiness sector.
Overall National Best Farmer to Travel to Italy
Mehak Company Limited will sponsor the Overall National Best Farmer 2026 and their spouse or partner on a seven-day, fully funded agricultural study and leisure trip to Italy.
The international study tour will expose the award winner to advanced European agricultural technology, sustainable farming practices, modern agribusiness value chains and innovative food processing systems.
The initiative is expected to give Ghana’s top farmer an opportunity to learn from modern agricultural practices that could contribute to increased productivity and innovation in Ghana’s farming sector.
National Best Poultry Farmer to Receive Italy Study Tour
Covenant Farms will sponsor the National Best Poultry Farmer 2026 for a seven-day, all-expenses-paid technical and benchmarking visit to Italy.
The programme will focus on modern poultry farming techniques, sustainable production systems, innovative agricultural technologies and efficient poultry management practices.
The exposure is intended to provide the national poultry champion with practical knowledge that can support the growth and modernisation of Ghana’s poultry industry.
Supporting Agricultural Modernisation in Ghana
In a press release issued on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture said the sponsorship packages are designed to expose Ghanaian farmers to modern farming technologies, processing innovations and smart agricultural practices.
The Ministry said the initiative directly supports the government’s broader agricultural modernisation agenda and efforts to improve productivity, innovation and sustainability across Ghana’s agriculture sector.
The Ministry also disclosed that it has completed discussions with the Italian Embassy to facilitate the successful international travel arrangements for the eventual winners of the two award categories.
Ministry Commends Private-Sector Support
The Ministry of Food and Agriculture expressed appreciation to the management of Mehak Company Limited and Covenant Farms for their support for Ghanaian agriculture and the National Farmers’ Day Celebration.
The sponsorship is expected to strengthen collaboration between the government and private agribusinesses while providing Ghana’s leading farmers with international exposure to modern agriculture, agritech and sustainable farming practices.
