The Bank of Ghana Governor and his appointees will be the target of a demonstration organized by The Minority on September 5. Starting at Makola, going via Rawlings Park and Opera Square, and ending in front of the Bank of Ghana is their suggested itinerary.
However, the police claim that the designated route frequently becomes too crowded with both automobile and pedestrian traffic. According to the police, taking this route could potentially endanger public safety, public order, and the efficient delivery of important services.
The police have proposed an alternate route that starts at the parliament building, travels through the Osu Cemetery Traffic Light, and ends at Independence Square. The Minority has expressed unhappiness and refused to accept this suggested alternative notwithstanding it.
The situation has now gotten so bad that the police are trying to get a court order blocking the Minority’s preferred protest path.
On September 4, a court hearing for this injunction is scheduled with the goal of stopping the Minority party from using the protest route they had originally planned.
