Professor Jean Nana Opoku Agyemang, a former vice presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has urged party members to disregard rumors.
Any and all rumors pertaining to the race to be John Dramani Mahama’s running mate in the next national elections in 2024.
She emphasized that these rumors are detracting attention from the urgent concerns facing the nation.
Her opinion is that the competition for the role of running mate is merely a diversion from the issues facing the majority of Ghanaians.
Currently, Prof Opoku Agyemang’s running companion for the 2024 elections could be replaced by one of two people: Mr. Sam Jonah, a well-known businessman, or Julius Debrah, a former chief of staff.
Prof. Opoku Agyemang emphasized that the alarming incidence of youth unemployment in Ghana should be the top issue for Ghanaians right now.
The Kwame Nkrumah Centre for Ideology, Governance, and Leadership, in partnership with the Institute of African Studies at the University of Ghana, and with assistance from the South African High Commission, hosted the conference where she made these comments.
The conference’s main goal was to honor Kwame Nkrumah and Nelson Mandela’s lasting contributions to leadership over the course of the last six decades of African uprising and liberation.
Prof. Opoku Agyemang spoke at the conference and emphasized the numerous difficulties that Africa faces as a result of the artificial borders set up during the colonial era.
She urged Africans to stand together and to strive to make the continent better for all of its citizens. She also supported a continent without borders, highlighting the significance of an integrated and united Africa.
