Alan Kyerematen’s departure from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was deliberate and an irrevocable decision, according to Justin Kodua Frimpong, general secretary of the NPP.

He claims that despite making his complaints known to the public, the former Minister of Trade and Industry had not indicated any intention of leaving the party prior to the announcement on Monday, September 25.

He expressed displeasure with Kyerematen’s decision to resign via a press conference and without informing the party first.

At a press conference held today, Tuesday, September 26, Justin Kodua said that Mr. Kyerematen gave no indication that he intended to resign or go independent during a visit by the National Chairman to him following the Special Electoral College on August 26.

“This suggests a premeditated and irrevocable decision,” he said.

Justin Kodua addressed the claims that the National Council made unlawful choices on the Super Delegates Conference in response to Mr. Kyerematen’s resignation. In making judgments about the location and voting processes for the presidential primary, he claimed that the National Council had not broken the party’s constitution.

He also denied Mr. Kyerematen’s claim that a limited number of Party elders, appointees of the government, and power brokers operating behind closed doors had “hijacked” the party.

He emphasized the Electoral College’s expansion to include more delegates, highlighting decentralization and wider inclusivity.

The General Secretary noted Mr. Kyerematen’s long-term contributions to the NPP’s expansion and advancement and said, “We respect his decision and extend our gratitude for the services rendered to the NPP and the nation.”

He also encouraged other sector Ministers and government appointees to follow Mr. Kyerematen’s lead in recognizing the government’s accomplishments throughout his time serving as an appointment.

He emphasized the NPP’s historical tenacity and cohesion, adding that many devoted members who never had the chance to serve as party or national leaders remained committed to the party’s principles until their departure.

He advised participants to concentrate on the general election in 2024 and cooperate to accomplish their objectives.

He insisted, “We urge on every one of you to gather together and maintain the ideas that define us. Our party’s power has always been generated from the unity and tenacity of our people.

As they get ready for the approaching elections, he urged party members to be devoted and loyal.
