The vice president Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia campaign team, who is running for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearership, has dismissed Kennedy Agyapong’s claim that he was offered an astounding $800 million to drop out of the race as untrue and absurd.
The Bawumia team’s spokesperson, Dr. Gideon Boako, stated in a statement released on Monday, October 30, 2023, that the Assin Central MP, who is also a candidate in the NPP presidential primary, has made no truthful claims.
According to the statement, neither Dr. Bawumia nor anybody else has given Ken Agyapong instructions to negotiate on his behalf since he entered the race.
“The Vice President has never instructed anybody to meet with Kennedy Agyapong, or his assigns to negotiate anything in respect of this contest. The Vice President and his team consider this $800 million claim as absolutely ridiculous, and it shows a gross disregard for the intelligence of Ghanaians.”
“Dr. Bawumia is, and has always been confident that by the Grace of God, he will defeat Hon. Kennedy Agyapong quite well on November 4th and has never entertained any wish for him to step down from the contest,” the statement read.
