The Parliamentary Select Committee on Judiciary has concluded its monitoring visit to the Bono Region.
The Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, received a courtesy call to start the exercise.
In the course of Parliament’s oversight, which aims to evaluate the judicial system and involve court employees in operational issues,
“The purpose of the visit was to formally inform the Minister about the Committee’s plans to engage and inspect some selected courts within the region,” according to the Committee, which is chaired by Hon. Joseph Frimpong.
During the Committee’s first visit to the Berekum District Court, members spoke with judges and staff from both the District and Circuit Courts and voiced concerns about various issues affecting the efficient administration of justice, especially the problem of insufficient accommodations for judges in the Bono Region.
Additionally, a request was made for better, organised court facilities throughout the area.
The Committee also visited the Sunyani Circuit and District Courts, which had a fire a few months ago, the Sunyani High Court, and the Nsoatre District Magistrate Court.
The Official Fire Service report was, according to Her Honour Jennifer Opokuwaa Amponsah.remains continuing, making it challenging to completely determine the incident’s details and the degree of the court facility’s damage.
