On the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the Managing Director of Ghana Post, Bice Osei Kuffour, is scheduled to run again for the Asante Akyem South Constituency seat.

He states that the main goals of his candidacy will be hard effort and inventiveness, especially in terms of providing the young people in the district with employment options.

“I am dedicated to ‘Breaking the 8’ and determined to contribute to its success,” stated Obour, who will be selecting the nomination forms for the parliamentary primaries. It’s not acceptable that the NDC outperforms us in Asante Akyem South, our stronghold.

He stated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been receiving more votes in the constituency than the NPP, which is concerning as the party gets closer to the important 2024 elections. For this reason, he decided to run in an effort to provide the NPP a larger margin of victory.

Using his wide networks, he continued, “As a leader, I believe in the importance of advocating for strategic projects, and representing the concerns of constituents in Parliament.” He also stated that he aims to offer skill training and lobby for developmental projects.

In addition, Obour emphasized the unrealized potential of the Asante Akyem South Constituency, which is home to a number of well-known figures and gifted people.

In order to advance the constituency’s overall growth, he also pledged to take full advantage of this potential and to collaborate closely with chiefs and opinion leaders.

It’s time to unseat the current MP, who has served the district for three terms in a row with little to show for his efforts. Mr. Kuffour, who ran in the most recent NPP parliamentary primaries, lost to the incumbent MP in 2020 by a mere 58 votes.

“As a political party, Breaking the 8 is not simply a catchphrase; it is a realistic objective, and I pledge to work tirelessly to see it through.

I’m doing everything I can to make sure we make history that will be amazing to be a part of,” he emphasized.

Obour went on to say that he was confident the delegates will back him this time because he stayed loyal to the party despite his defeat in the last primary.

“When I lost in the last primaries, I did not abandon ship but worked tirelessly with the MP and constituency executives to canvass for votes. I have also consistently provided support for the local party in its activities, and the constituents,” he stated.

He also pleaded the delegates, who are very important to the party’s success, to cast a sizable number of ballots in favor of him in order to lead the constituency into the 2024 election.

The NPP has declared that on Saturday, January 27, 2024, the last round of its internal elections to choose parliamentary candidates for the constituencies where the party currently has Members of Parliament (MPs) will take place.

In such constituencies, the nomination period for prospective parliamentary candidates will begin on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, and end on Monday, December 25, 2023.
