A 33-year-old man was found guilty of stealing a Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) water meter and was given a 15-month prison sentence.
On Sunday, December 24, 2023, the police detained Richard Afful, who had stolen the water meter from Community 11 in Tema.
On Thursday, January 4, 2024, Mr. Afful was brought before the TDC Magistrate Court in Tema following an inquiry.
After Afful entered a guilty plea to the two charges that were brought against him, the court chaired by Benedicta Antwi punished him appropriately.
Afful received a sentence of three months on the second offense and twelve months for the first.
In addition, he was fined GHc10,000 and faces a further four months in prison if he doesn’t pay the fine.
Every sentence must flow simultaneously.
