President John Dramani Mahama has revealed that the expansion of the Zonda Tec Ghana Assembly Plant is expected to generate approximately 1,000 additional indirect jobs across Ghana’s growing automotive value chain.
According to President Mahama, the latest investment will also nearly double Zonda Tec’s direct workforce, creating further employment opportunities in key areas including logistics, vehicle maintenance, component supply, distribution and other supporting services.
The President made the announcement on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, during the commissioning of the third phase of the Zonda Tec Ghana Assembly Plant.
He said the expansion represents an important boost for job creation, local manufacturing and Ghana’s automotive industry, while strengthening opportunities for businesses operating within the vehicle production value chain.
“The investment we are celebrating today will significantly expand employment opportunities. It is expected to almost double direct employment at Zonda Tec while creating approximately 1,000 additional indirect jobs across logistics, maintenance, component supply, distribution and other supporting industries,” President Mahama said.
Zonda Tec Expands Automotive Skills Training
President Mahama also commended Zonda Tec Ghana for investing in technical and vocational training to prepare young Ghanaians for employment in the automotive sector.
He highlighted the company’s establishment of an automotive training academy, which is designed to equip young people with practical skills relevant to vehicle assembly and manufacturing.
The President also praised the Zonda Tec Foundation for its scholarship programme, which provides opportunities for young Ghanaians to travel to China for specialised training in automotive manufacturing and technology.
President Mahama said these initiatives would complement the expansion of Ghana’s automotive industry by developing a skilled workforce capable of meeting the increasing demand for technical expertise.
He added that investments in automotive skills development, youth employment and technical training would help more Ghanaians participate directly in the country’s industrialisation drive.
The expansion of the Zonda Tec Assembly Plant is therefore expected to contribute to job creation in Ghana, industrial development, local vehicle assembly and skills development, while strengthening the wider automotive value chain.
