The Electricity Company of Ghana reports that there would be sporadic power disruptions in about 25 towns in Greater Accra.
Ghana Steel, Palace Mall, Furniture Citi, Lovely Transport, GPHA Terminal (Kpone), Sethi Realty, Abodakpi Farms, and Kpone Dump Site are a few of them.
Bediako and the surrounding areas of Golf City are the others. Other places include a portion of Teiman, Ayi Mensah, Top Herbal, Bohye, Abloradjei, Pure Water, Pokuase, Fountain Gate, and Kwabenya, Agbogba, and Maryera.
The power distributor states that the Pokuase Bulk delivery Point and the Smelter 2 Bulk Supply Point are experiencing a shortage in power delivery due to a shortage caused by Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo).
With the exception of assuring “all affected customers that once GRIDCo turns on supply, power will be restored,” ECG provided no information regarding when the power supply to these locations will return to normal.
Ghanaians have taken to Facebook and other social media sites to voice their complaints about the state of affairs.
A load-shedding schedule from the ECG has been required by the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission and the minority caucus in parliament.
Energy Minister Mathew Opoku Prempeh, however, rebuffed the request, stating that one was unnecessary and requesting that the people making the demands publish one.
