The recently authorized fees for nurses have been put on hold while the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana reviews them.

In response to the Nurses and Midwifery Council’s significant increase in the nursing verification cost from GH¢500 to GH¢3,000, the Ghana Nurses and Midwives Association recently declared its intention to go on strike.

After speaking with the Health Ministry, they eventually decided not to proceed with their scheduled demonstration.

At a meeting of the 15th Governing Board of the Nursing and Midwifery Council on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, the Council decided to postpone the new fees.

The Council stated that it will revert to the prior price system and that its decision was made following discussions about the concerns of relevant parties.
