The Minister for Health, Hon. Dr Bernard Okoe-Boye, today, started a four-day working visit to the Ashanti Region. The visit would allow the Health Minister to assess the progress of work on new health facilities under construction and know the challenges some health workers are facing in the region.
The Minister’s first stop was at the Regional Coordinating Council, where he paid a courtesy call to the Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah to discuss the status of the projects and the healthcare delivery in the region.

He later conducted an inspection tour of the new Ashanti Regional Hospital situated at Sewua in the Bosomtwe District. The 250-bed capacity hospital, a modern health edifice, is ready to be operationalized with physical construction completed.
Hon. Dr Okoe-Boye ended his first-day tour at the Bekwai Municipal Hospital, where he engaged with the healthcare workers to understand their challenges firsthand.

As the tour continues, Hon. Dr Okoe-Boye is expected to visit additional project sites, furthering his mission to ensure that all works are on track and meet the requisite standards and are completed within time. His next stops will be Komfe Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumawu, and Fomena.
The Minister for Health was accompanied by the the Director of Infrastructure at the Ministry, Mr Ben Nkansah, Diector of Technical Coordination at the Ministry, Dr Hafiz Adams, the Financial Controller for the Ministry, Mr Francis Nunoo, Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Patrick Kumah-Aboagye and Ashanti Regional Director of Health Services, Dr Emmanuel Tenkorang.
