The leading figure in the recent anti-galamsey demonstrations, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, has been granted bail by an Accra High Court.
A GHC 20,000 bail was established with two sureties.
Lawyer Barker-Vormawor, convenor of the Democracy Hub pressure organization, is charged with several offenses, including theft, assaulting a public official, inflicting unauthorized damage, and defacing public property.
The court mandated that he report to the police twice a week as part of the bail requirements.
His defense team had already filed three unsuccessful bail requests with the Circuit Court.
Barker-Vormawor and fifty-two other demonstrators were taken into custody by the police for allegedly being lawless during the demonstrations.
Two separate Circuit Courts in Accra have now granted them bail.
