Students’ umbrella organization, the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), has formally informed the Greater Accra Regional Police Command that it intends to protest the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) for the recent cancellation and withholding of results for a number of students who took the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The demonstration will be held in Obra Spot, Circle, Accra, on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 9:00 AM.
According to NUGS, many students have been unjustly impacted by the announced and canceled results, which could endanger their academic futures.
The student body is requesting that WAEC handle exam results fairly and transparently.
Students, parents, and other interested parties are anticipated to attend the demonstration in order to demand prompt resolution of the problem.
In the meantime, the examination regulating body has proceeded to obtain a stay of execution on the court’s judgment for WAEC to divulge the results after some parents and pupils filed a lawsuit against the organization in the High Court.
