Professor Goski Alabi, a member of the National Education Forum Committee, stated that the committee plans to deliver its final report on Ghana’s educational system to the government by March 2025.
Since its creation by President John Dramani Mahama, the committee has been consulting with important parties in an effort to improve Ghana’s educational system.
The group is in charge of creating the forum’s agenda, interacting with stakeholders, and creating a budget. It is chaired by Professor George K. T. Oduro, a former pro vice-chancellor of the University of Cape Coast.
Prof. Alabi indicated the group is nearing the end of consultation in an update on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
“Engagements are ongoing until the end of this month. In March, we will compile all the evidence we have gathered and present a comprehensive report to the government through the Ministry of Education.”
“We anticipate that Parliament will determine how to proceed with implementation,” she stated.
President Mahama has reassured interested parties that the forum’s suggestions will be carefully considered.
He underlined the government’s dedication to education reform while speaking at the forum’s start in Ho, Volta Region.
“It must be our collective responsibility to make recommendations that are far-reaching, transformative, and necessary for developing the global Ghanaian. As a government, we are fully committed to this process.”‘
“Your recommendations will not gather dust on the shelf,” he stated.
Key reforms to improve education’s accessibility, quality, and inclusivity are anticipated to be outlined in the final report, which will help to shape Ghana’s educational landscape going forward.
