Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), led Management in welcoming Honourable Members of the Education Select Committee of the Parliament of Ghana, led by Committee Chairman Hon. Peter Nortsu, on a working visit to the GES Headquarters yesterday, Thursday, July 9, 2026.

The Committee gained a better understanding of the GES’s mission, operations, and strategic priorities as well as the Service’s critical role in carrying out pre-tertiary education policies, enhancing learning outcomes, and guaranteeing equal access to high-quality education throughout Ghana as a result of the visit.

Effective curriculum implementation, teacher professional development, school infrastructure, digital learning, inclusive education, and steps to enhance teaching and learning outcomes nationwide were all discussed as ways to improve the delivery of high-quality education.

Management presented the Committee with some of the difficulties the Service faces in providing high-quality pre-tertiary education and asked for the Committee’s assistance in resolving these issues.

Infrastructure deficiencies, teacher recruitment and rationalisation, student and staff disciplinary concerns, the role of the home, and the prompt provision of finances for schools were some of these.

The Committee reassured Management of their unwavering resolve to assist in resolving these issues and bolster the Service’s ability to successfully carry out its purpose.

In addition to thanking the Committee for the engagement, management reiterates GES’s dedication to collaborating closely with Parliament and all important stakeholders to improve Ghana’s pre-tertiary education system and guarantee that all students have access to high-quality, inclusive, and equitable education.
