The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has released an updated list of 100 unrecognised universities and tertiary institutions in Ghana as of August 28, 2026.
According to a public notice issued by GTEC on August 28, the institutions were identified due to concerns relating to quality assurance and recognition status.
GTEC has urged members of the public, prospective students, parents and other stakeholders to exercise caution and conduct proper due diligence before enrolling in any tertiary institution.
The Commission also advised the public to carefully verify the recognition and accreditation status of institutions before accepting or relying on certificates issued by them.
