The Diplomatic Community’s annual New Year’s Greetings is hosted by the President.

The diplomatic corps was invited to the traditional New Year’s Greetings at the Jubilee House on February 27, 2025, by President H. E. John Dramani Mahama.

Among those in attendance were H. E. Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the Vice President of the Republic, the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo, members of the Council of State, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, envoys from sixty-two (62) embassies and high commissions, international organizations, and a few senior state officials. The Ghana Police Band and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Envoys Choir provided music for the event.

The H. E. the President sent the Diplomatic Corps warm wishes for the new year on behalf of the Ghanaian government and people during his remarks. He said that the meeting with the diplomats symbolized a renewed optimism for partnerships and the promise of fresh starts.

During the ceremony, he seized the opportunity to reiterate Ghana’s commitment to strengthening the friendship, cooperation, and goodwill ties that exist between Ghana and her bilateral and multilateral partners.

He also took use of the occasion to list some important government projects that will be carried out while he was in power.

Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), Minister of Foreign Affairs, gave the assembly his best wishes for a year full of harmony, wealth, and improved collaborations.

He thanked them for attending the President and Vice President’s inauguration and for the many congratulations they received from their respective countries, which he said demonstrated the faith in Ghana’s efforts to further its democratic process.

He hinted that the new year served as a reminder to consider past struggles and triumphs and to renew our commitment to the values of the international community in spite of the many difficulties.

In the strong conviction that isolationism would not be in the best interests of the international community, he reiterated Ghana’s commitment to promoting multilateralism and the principles of diplomacy.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, H. E. Maher Kheir, the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and the Lebanese Ambassador to Ghana, congratulated the Vice-President and H. E. John Dramani Mahama on their successful elections and wished them and the Ghanaian people a happy, prosperous new year, pointing out that this year is the start of a new era of development, peace, and prosperity for Ghana and its people.
