As renovations near completion, the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital’s administration has promised the public that regular activities at its morgue will soon resume.

In order to permit renovations at the morgue, the hospital—which is the biggest referral medical facility in Ghana—had previously issued a directive on February 3, 2025, temporarily prohibiting the reception of dead bodies and Brought-in-Dead (BID) cases.

On Monday, March 10, Mustapha Salifu, Korle Bu’s Head of Public Relations, gave Citi News an update on the situation, saying that although contractors are still working on the renovation, the project is moving forward well.

“We are still on it, as soon as the contractor wraps up we will let you know. Our focus is on finishing the servicing. People are also complying with the announcement that we made. We hope to finish up so that they can resume normal operation.” he said.
