Grand Chateaux Sangria Forte, including the Tetra Pak 250ml and Canned 330ml Petillante varieties, has been immediately recalled from the Ghanaian market by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) due to safety concerns.
Since these items are unregistered, their sale and distribution are prohibited, and the FDA claims that the importer has violated sections 97, 98, and 103 of the Public Health Act, 2012 (Act 859).
Furthermore, the items’ size and packaging are seen to be misleading and deceptive, which could jeopardize children’s health and safety by allowing them to accidentally consume alcohol.
Customers were advised by the FDA not to buy or eat the unregistered items. It is also recommended that distributors and retailers stop selling and distributing these goods right away.
According to the statement, all inventory should be sent back to the closest Cave and Garden Ghana Limited locations as well as FDA offices around the country.
The FDA is monitoring the enforcement of regulatory procedures and has levied penalties on the importer.
The FDA encouraged the public to report any information on the product’s sale through its official channels and reiterated its dedication to ensuring health and safety.
The public was encouraged to report any incidents of these items being sold using the FDA’s official website (www.fdaghana.gov.gh), hotline (0551112224/5), or email ([email protected]).
