A delegation led by H. E. Niloy Banerjee, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), paid a courtesy call to Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the Minister for the Interior, to examine potential areas of cooperation and Ghana’s efforts to uphold peace and security.
The UNDP delegation praised Ghana for its robust peace architecture, policies, and activities targeted at maintaining peace and stability in the nation during the discussion and showed interest in the Ministry’s strategic direction. The team observed that Ghana’s peacebuilding strategy is still a model for the region and beyond.
H.E. Niloy Banerjee also expressed enthusiasm for the Peace Index and Peace Map projects, characterising them as cutting-edge instruments that may support efforts to avert conflict and promote peace.

The group also reaffirmed UNDP’s commitment to supporting projects that advance peace, security, and development and praised the Minister’s vision for the whole security sector.
The Interior Minister, on his part, emphasised the significance of cooperation and coordination between the Ministry and development partners like UNDP. He gave the group an update on the Ministry’s major initiatives, policies, and advancements, such as the Parole Bill, the proposed Community Service Bill, which aims to relieve pressure on the nation’s jails, and continued attempts at digitalisation.
In addition, Hon. Muntaka emphasised the importance of the Peace Map and Peace Index programs in bolstering national peace and security systems and urged UNDP to continue working with the Ministry to further its goals.
The Minister expressed confidence about strengthening collaboration between the Ministry and UNDP in areas of shared interest and thanked the delegation for their visit.
