Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, has stepped in to help Rosemond Asomadu, a young woman who was attacked by a vicious dog at her job, a Chinese-owned plastics warehouse in Jamestown, Accra.

The event was made public after Rosemond talked about her terrifying experience on Captain Smart’s morning show on Onua TV. She claims that she suffered severe injuries that needed medical attention after being mauled by dogs housed at the warehouse.

She went on to describe how the employer fired her after failing to pay for her medical bills in spite of her condition.

The minister immediately invited Rosemond to the ministry to evaluate the situation and provide the required assistance after hearing the information. She conveyed her profound concern for Rosemond’s situation.

The minister instructed the Head of the Domestic Violence Secretariat to communicate with Rosemond and make it easier for her to seek redress through the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations, acknowledging that the situation was labor-related.

In an act of kindness, the minister also promised to keep a close eye on the issue until justice is done and gave Rosemond an unknown sum of money to help with her medical expenses.

The minister thanked Captain Smart and Onua TV for drawing her attention to the problem and using their platform to elevate the voices of those who are most in need.

She also urged people to report abuse by calling the ministry’s toll-free numbers, 0800-800-800 and 0800-900-900.
