Accra’s Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) Center of Excellence and officer housing have been put into service by Interior Minister Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak.

The Center of Excellence will act as a focal point for officers’ post-entry training and development, strengthening their capacity to advocate for problems pertaining to migration.

The 84 residential units, which include flats with two or three bedrooms, are intended to enhance the quality of life for GIS staff members.

Hon. Muntaka praised GIS for their commitment and diligence, pointing out that the significance of improved logistical support has been highlighted by their vital role in national security.

He gave his word that the Ministry of the Interior would keep giving national security top priority when allocating resources.

“The government has recognized the urgent need to enhance office and residential accommodations for security personnel and reaffirmed the commitment to bridging that gap,” the minister said.

Additionally, he tasked the Comptroller-General and his staff with maintaining the facilities, stressing the need for a maintenance plan to preserve the Center’s reputation and show exemplary community living.

Ag. Comptroller-General Samuel Amadu Basintale thanked the minister for his assistance, pointing out that his attendance shows his dedication to solving the service’s housing shortage.

Additionally, he emphasized the GIS’s dedication to professionalism and competence, dedicating the facility to the country. The Center is anticipated to increase the ability of GIS staff to carry out their responsibilities efficiently and support national security.

In order to prepare GIS staff to handle new problems and guarantee Ghana’s border security management, the Center of Excellence is anticipated to act as a center for innovation and capacity building.
