Three important bodies that will influence the direction of Ghana’s education system were inaugurated yesterday by the Honorable Haruna Iddrisu, Minister of Education:
– Governing Board of the Ghana National Research Fund (GNRF)
– Governing Council of the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT)
– Planning Committee for the 2025 TVET Week Celebration

The minister characterized the formation of the Ghana National Research Fund Governing Board as a significant turning point in Ghana’s efforts to advance academic quality, innovation, and evidence-based policymaking.
He gave the board the responsibility of guaranteeing impact, equity, and transparency in the distribution of research funds to aid in the advancement of the country.
Hon. Iddrisu advised members of the UMaT Governing Council to advance innovation in mining and applied sciences, crucial fields for Ghana’s industrial transformation, and to exercise strong leadership during the council’s inauguration.
Additionally, he formally established the TVET Week Planning Committee in advance of this year’s commemoration of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
The minister urged the committee to collaborate and be innovative in order to demonstrate the value of TVET in increasing employment, developing skills, and fostering national development.
