The Ghana Health Service has taken preemptive measures in response to the current MPOX outbreak to make sure that no one is left behind, particularly vulnerable populations like those with disabilities.
In order to increase awareness and guarantee access to vital preventative information, Health Promotion Officers collaborated with leaders of the Ghana Federation of Disability Organizations (GFD).
Promoting inclusive health communication was the main goal of the seminar, which emphasized the necessity of customizing outreach strategies and message to accommodate the various requirements of people with disabilities.
Additionally, it offered a chance to improve cooperation between disability advocacy organizations and the GHS in responding to public health emergencies.

The Health Promotion Division’s Focal Person for Disability Inclusion, Ms. Patience Ofosuhemaa, led the interaction and gave participants an update on the MPOX outbreak, including its symptoms, transmission, and important preventive measures like washing your hands properly and avoiding close contact with suspected or confirmed cases.
She also urged timely reporting to medical facilities and restated that treatment for suspected and proven cases is free.
The GFD leadership, represented by Madam Doris Ndebugre, thanked the initiative and promised that the federation would aggressively spread the word through its networks across the country.
By making sure that people with disabilities are not only informed but also empowered to take action to safeguard themselves and their communities, this engagement demonstrates the Service’s dedication to health equity.
