The Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Hon. Emelia Arthur, was the recipient of a courtesy call from the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) to discuss joint job development potential through creative alternative programs.

In order to promote national development, CSIR pledged during the meeting to commercialize its research results.

Training individuals and organizations in critical areas, including hatchery management, fish feed formulation using locally accessible resources, and tilapia and catfish farming, is the main focus for the fisheries sector.

Hon. Emelia Arthur praised CSIR for going above and beyond research to put into practice workable, commercially viable ideas that help Ghanaians.

She conveyed her admiration for the Institute’s progressive stance and urged more cooperation between CSIR and the Ministry to increase job prospects, particularly for young people.

“This partnership has great potential to create sustainable jobs and improve livelihoods. Let’s work together to make it a reality,” the Minister noted.

The collaboration is a positive step in transforming Ghana’s fisheries and aquaculture industry by utilizing science and creativity.
