Road contractors that have abandoned projects nationwide would soon return to their locations to finish any unfinished work, according to President John Dramani Mahama.

He clarified that the auditor general had completed an audit of road contracts given by the previous administration and that contractors will shortly resume work on all halted projects.

President Mahama revealed this on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at Jackson Park in Koforidua while on his Eastern Regional Thank You Tour.

He claims that his administration is still dedicated to the Big Push Agenda, which will support the development of infrastructure.

“The Auditor-General has come with his report. So we are going to make the contractors go back to the site. But those who had double payment will be punished,” he stated.

He emphasized that penalties for the duplication will be imposed on all contractors who had received payments from the Ministry of Finance as well as the Road Fund.
