The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has detained Paul Adom-Otchere and two other individuals in connection with the contract investigation by the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL).

The OSP claims that Mr. Adom-Otchere has not complied with his bail requirements.

Adom-Otchere, a former board chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited, and the other two were interviewed by the OSP on Thursday afternoon and formally charged.

However, Mr. Adom-Otchere has not been able to fulfill his bail requirements thus far, the OSP stated in a statement.

He must show two landed properties that are registered in his name but have no particular worth. He has, however, told the OSP that he is not the owner of any landed property in Ghana.

Consequently, the OSP stated that he would be held until the conditions of his bail were met.

Since then, he has been moved from the OSP headquarters to another location where he is presumably going to be held.

Around 2:50 p.m., Mr. Adom-Otchere was spotted arriving at the OSP building with what were presumably his attorneys.

This occurred ten minutes prior to the OSP’s scheduled appointment for 3 p.m.

He remained on the OSP property for about four hours until a few minutes before seven o’clock in the evening, when reporters who had gathered outside the building noticed him leaving with a few police officers.

The other two individuals are Albert Adjetey Adjei-Laryea, CEO of Devnest Systems, and Otchere Kwame Baffour Awuah, Group Executive, Commercial Services at the GACL.

A revenue assurance contract between the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) and a private company owned by the owner of Strategic Mobilization Ghana Ltd (SML) is the subject of an investigation into Mr. Adom-Otchere.

According to the OSP, it was looking into potential procurement violations, such as a sole-sourced contract given to a business other than the one that the GACL Board had authorized.
