Joseph Kobina Ade-Coker, the former vice chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), will be buried today, Friday, August 1, 2025. 

He passed away at the Bank Hospital in Accra on Sunday, June 1, following a brief illness.

Ade-Coker, 68, was a well-respected football and political personality.

There will be a memorial service on Sunday, August 3, in his honor.

Ade-Coker, a former chairman of the Accra Great Olympics, was the vice chairman of the GFA in 1997.

He founded the now-defunct AC Olympiacos in the early 2000s and was instrumental in the development of football in the nation.

Ade-Coker was a significant political figure outside of football, holding the position of National Democratic Congress (NDC) Greater Accra Regional Chairman. In addition, he was Ghana’s Consul for the Republic of Belarus.

With Ade-Coker’s death, a notable chapter in Ghanaian football and politics comes to a close.
