Yaw Asare, a 48-year-old head porter, was recently found guilty of “causing unlawful damage,” in violation of Section 172 of the Criminal Offences Act (Act 29), and sentenced by the Dansoman Circuit Court to two years in jail in Nsawam.

Recall that Yaw Asare was detained on June 9, 2025, for illegally destroying parapet beams and accessories on the recently built Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange.

The Ministry of Roads and Highways has recently noted with great worry the speed with which certain members of the public commit illegal damage to road infrastructure, including vandalism and cars colliding, particularly when traffic lights are involved.
