Ghana is likely to get a Hyundai car manufacturing factory as South Korea expands its economic footprint in Africa, which is expected to boost Ghana’s industrialisation program and position the country as a regional vehicle assembly hub.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, made the statement following the 2026 Korea-Africa Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Seoul, which he co-chaired with South Korea’s Foreign Minister Cho Hyun.
According to Mr. Ablakwa, the planned Hyundai factory will serve the West African market and is projected to increase local car production, generate jobs, and attract additional investment to Ghana’s manufacturing sector.
