Absa Bank has shown its dedication to helping small companies in Ghana by contributing GH¢150,000 to traders impacted by the catastrophic fire that occurred on January 2.
To help the traders rebuild, GH¢100,000 in cash and GH¢50,000 worth of roofing sheets were donated.
Absa Bank personnel and representatives from every Kantamanto trading organization attended the brief presentation at the Kantamanto market.
In his statement, Mr. Kobla Nyaletey, Executive Director, Retail and Business Banking, Absa Bank Ghana, emphasized Absa Bank’s proactive support while expressing profound sympathy for the merchants’ losses.
A GH¢150,000 donation, loans to traders at a favorable 10% interest rate, and the establishment of an Absa presence at Kantamanto Market to enable smooth transactions were the three main measures Mr. Nyaletey highlighted for the traders.
Audrey Abakah, Director of SME, Agency Banking, and Partnerships at Absa Bank, also emphasized the bank’s dedication to helping merchants by providing them with cutting-edge financial solutions.
“As a bank that cares and seeks to empower Africa’s tomorrow, we could not sit idly by but felt compelled to meet with the executives of the Second-Hand Used Clothing Association to make a donation and present specially designed packages for wholesalers and traders,” he said.
“We thank Absa for listening to our cry and coming to help us. said Dr. Joseph Obeng, president of the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA), in appreciation of the bank’s prompt action. “Absa has once again proven to be a friend of traders.
