The majority whip Frank Annohp-Dompreh has fervently urged the Parliament’s Minority Caucus to reverse its decision to reject the President’s nominees for ministry positions.

He asserted that their decision to support and approve the nominees would not be harmful to them or the nation’s democracy.

He suggested that it is customary for members of the House to back any of their colleagues who are chosen to ministerial positions and urged the Minority to deviate from this long-standing practice.

The Whip urged the Minority to reconsider their decision for the sake of unity, the nation, and the desire to create a productive working relationship while speaking to the media about a directive from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to its members in Parliament not to approve President Akufo-ministerial Addos’s nominees.

The new Minority leadership is making a significant decision, and Mr. Annoh-Dompreh encouraged them to “tamper justice with kindness.”

“That is not the right expression to use in this context because I don’t see the relevance to this but I’m just saying they should just go and support the nominees and let’s pass them.” “The Hon. KT Hammond, Bryan Acheampong, OB Amoah and Stephen Amoah are all our colleagues and in this House, we have this convention where if one of our own gets the privilege to be nominated we rally around one another to get them endorsed, especially in the case that there is no committal of any crime.”

“It will not be injurious if they so decide to support the decision. I’m just appealing to them to remember that today will be a very significant day in our body politics, that once upon a time nomination from the presidency came and all they said was a no no no. I’ve been listening to them for me it’s a significant statement and will re-echo into the future.”

The call for reduction, according to the Majority Whip, may be fair, but he emphasized that a significant ministry like agriculture cannot be eliminated amid the current economic crisis.

He insisted that his colleagues take the necessary action and support the nominations’ approval because the President had heard the Minority and deserved a second chance.

He asserts that the nominees merited approval to represent the country since they conducted themselves honorably in front of the Appointments Committee.
