In memory of the late former First Lady Theresa Kufuor, who passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has ordered that all Ghanaian flags be flown at half-mast.
The flying of flags at half-mast will take place for one week, from Monday, October 2, 2023, to Sunday, October 8, 2023, according to a statement made on Monday, October 2, 2023, and signed by Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.
Former First Lady Kufuor’s late wife served in the position from 2001 until 2009.
She was 87 years old. The couple spent 61 years together.
All of the flags flown by the ruling New Patriotic Party were already ordered to be lowered to half-staff.
Mr. Oppong Nkrumah made the following comment in his statement: “We extend our heartfelt condolences to President J.A. Kufuor and the family as we collectively mourn the loss of a remarkable woman who touched the hearts of many.”
