The public has been asked by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) through its Department of Social Welfare and Community Development to help locate the family members or relatives of a woman who was discovered at Agbogbloshie in Accra and is thought to be in her 60s.

After being apparently discovered stranded and unable to find her destination upon landing in Accra, the woman, known as Madam Rose Okraku, is presently under the Department’s care.

The Assembly stated that anyone with information might help the Department reunite Madam Rose Okraku with her family by calling 0241856401 or 0243211345.

On Tuesday, May 19, 2026, Madam Okraku reportedly boarded a commercial vehicle, often known as a trotro, from Kasoa Market to Accra, according to information provided to the Assembly, according to Mr. Gilbert Nii Ankrah, Head of Public Affairs at the AMA.

He claimed that when Madam Okraku arrived in Accra, she was unable to determine her destination, which caused alarm and resulted in her being helped and turned over to the proper authorities.

According to preliminary data, Madam Okraku was receiving treatment for dementia, he said.

The Department of Social Welfare and Community Development had since taken custody of her and was working to ensure her safety while efforts were made to locate her family, he said, adding that her condition may have contributed to her inability to correctly identify her destination or locate her relatives after arriving in Accra.

He asked anyone with reliable information regarding Madam Okraku’s family to get in touch with the AMA’s Department of Social Welfare and Community Development.

He urged families taking care of senior citizens, particularly those with memory-related disorders, to take additional safety measures whenever they travelled or moved.
